The Ferrari 296 GTB is the evolution of the mid-rear-engined two-seater sports berlinetta concept, a revolution for the Maranello-based automaker with the introduction of a brand new 120-degree V6 paired to a plug-in hybrid electric motor capable of a combined 830 cv (819 hp). The car redefines the idea of driving fun, providing pure excitement whether you’re chasing max performance or doing everyday driving.

The 296 GTB is the first Ferrari road car to sport the 120-degree V6, which features a more compact engine design, as the turbochargers can fit within the “V” shape. The result is a smaller engine, yes, but also a reduced center of gravity and a decreased overall engine mass, with 226 hp/L (a new record).

Innovation and Power

Not only does integrating the turbocharger into the “V” of the crankcase drop the center of gravity and decrease overall engine size, it also improves thermal management in the engine compartment and around electrical components. You’ll also see an innovative approach to active aerodynamics on the 296 GTB: rather than manage the drag as on many recent Ferrari models, the GTB uses active aerodynamic elements to generate additional downforce.

Compact Yet Modern

The 296 GTB’s short wheelbase and monolithic appearance position it as the most compact berlinetta Ferrari has produced in the last decade. Rather than use the typical fastback layout, the Ferrari Style Centre focused on building a powerfully designed cabin to fit the short wheelbase, outfitting with styling elements like a new vertical rear screen, a visor roof, flying buttresses, and muscular mudguards.

Assetto Fiorano

Drivers seeking more than what the standard GTB has to offer don’t need to look far. The Assetto Fiorano setup features weight reduction and aerodynamic upgrades. The structure of certain components, like the door panels, have been redesigned to shave off as many pounds as possible. You can optimize for lightweight performance from tip to tail, too, including an ultra-light Lexan rear screen. Select a 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano inspired by the 250 LM with unique front bumper elements that embrace the contours of the grille and continue on the hood and then up to the roof and rear spoiler.
