The F8 Tributo replaced the 488 GTB (pictured) in the Ferrari lineup, looking toward the future while serving as a tribute to the past (hence the name). The F8 Tributo has much in common with the special series edition of the 488, the 488 Pista. To give you an idea of the DNA they share — and what makes the Tributo unique — we’ve compared these two world-class automobiles. As you can see, their performance specs are similar, and the key differences are in comfort and ease of driving.

488 vs. F8 Tributo: Performance & Engineering

Under the hood of each model is a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 rated at 710 hp on the 488 Pista and 720 hp on the Tributo, with 568 lb-ft of torque on both. While there’s a slight difference in power, both models have a 211 mph top speed and a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds. If you’re a particularly astute driver, you might notice the difference in weight: when equipped with all of the available lightweight options, the 488 Pista is 111 pounds lighter.

While the engine delivers similar specs, the F8 Tributo features the latest in performance technology, with the most recent iteration of the Ferrari Side Slip Angle Control and Dynamic Enhancer (FDE+) system. Behind the wheel of an F8 Tributo, non-professional drivers can feel like they spend their days on the track.

488 Pista vs. F8: Interior Design & Features

Every new Ferrari works toward building a superior fusion between driver and automobile, so you should expect increases in style and comfort. The interior of the 488 Pista does not disappoint, but the F8 Tributo sports the following changes:

  • Smaller-diameter steering wheel
  • Increased steering wheel controls and functionality
  • Handsfree phone operation
  • Available 7-inch passenger display
