How to Clean a Car Windshield Inside

Man Cleaning Car Interior With Cloth

Most drivers will clean the outside of their windshield with a hand-wash and a towel-dry on a sunny Chicago afternoon, but cleaning the inside can be tougher. While you could leave it to the pros the next time you have your sports car detailed, there’s something satisfying about caring for your vehicle yourself. To clean the inside of a car windshield, you’ll need manufacturer-recommended cleaning supplies, including a microfiber towel, glass cleaner, and rubbing alcohol.

How to Clean Inside Car Windows

Whether it’s a blur or just a few spots, anything but a crystal clear windshield can mar the beautiful driving experience owed to every Ferrari owner. To clean the inside of your windshield:

  • First, take your microfiber cleaning cloth and wipe down the glass. This will remove grime and dirt on the windshield to ensure you don’t just move it around.
  • Next, spray your approved glass cleaner onto the microfiber cloth and wipe down the inside one more time to remove any remaining particles.
  • Use rubbing alcohol to wipe down the inside of the window one more time to cut any built-up grease.
  • A final round of glass cleaner or an approved glass polish will wrap things up and have your windshield looking like it’s not even there on your next drive.

Can You Used Windex on Car Windows?

While a simple commuter sedan likely won’t be hurt by Windex, we recommend only using glass cleaners and cleaning supplies that are approved by your vehicle’s manufacturer. Whether you drive a new Ferrari, a classic Bentley, or a pre-owned Aston Martin, your car care should follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Even when using manufacturer-approved cleaners, it’s best to be careful: what has been approved for your windshield could still damage a leather interior or natural wood trim.
