Lake Forest Country Clubs

Golfer at Country Club

Whether you’re seeking a challenging new 18-hole course or a clubhouse you can call your home, the Lake Forest area has no shortage of options. Ferrari Lake Forest is here with some local country clubs that will keep you comfortable.

The Lake Forest Club

Founded in 1958, The Lake Forest Club features a large pool complex (with diving wall), a dozen tennis courts, four paddle courts, and a network lounge.

With a menu that changes six times a year, The Lake Forest Club makes it easy to kick back and relax after a long day at the office (or a long one on the track). A range of membership levels makes The Lake Forest Club an option for everyone from individuals to large families.

Onwentsia Club

Onwentsia Club began as a 7-hole course in 1893 on the lawn of Senator Charles B. Farwell. Laid out between the flower beds and trees — and using tomato cans for holes — the course took off and quickly demanded its own location to account for the golfers. The rest is history, with Onwentsia moving to its current location in 1895, hosting the US Open in 1906, and now attracting golfers from all over the world with a full 18-hole course.

Knollwood Club

Established in 1924 and spanning 240 acres, this Lake Forest country club is one of the premier country clubs in the state. Knollwood Club features a golf course designed by H.S. Colt and C.H. Alison (chosen as a championship-level course for many PGA, USGA, and WGA events), active swimming and tennis programs, and winter activities. Dining options range from a casual, quick bite at lunch to elegant dinners for special occasions.

Conway Farms Golf Club

The youngest country club on the list is also the most exclusive; Conway Farms Golf Club opened in 1991 and has since hosted over a dozen major tournaments. Designed around protecting the traditions of Scottish links golf, Conway encourages walking and fast play as well as the support of amateur golf. Unlike many Lake Forest country clubs, Conway Farms Golf Club has no application process — membership is by invitation only. Non-members are welcome on the course, however, provided they are the guest of a member.
